TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - RF

Right Field - For me, RF is a tricky one to rank. I tried to make sure they at least hit the bare minimum recs defensively...but I realize there are many who dont believe in those. So I factored in their bats first and used defense as a tie breaker.

1. Vladimir Gonzales - St Louis
2. Danry Garrido - Charolotte
3. Bob Sanders - San Diego
4. Patrick Yount - Arizona
5. Haywood Cust - Boston
6. David Torres - Cleveland
7. Ray Hitchcock - Atlanta
8. Ronn Carlyle - NY Mets
9. Don Hyun - Washington
10. Dummy Bourn - Chicago Cubs

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - LF

Left Field - Left field is all about the power, I also heavily factored in their splits and a tie breaker was defense and speed.

2. Fred Bristow - Vancouver
3. Matty Franco - Pittsburgh
4. Jeremi Petrov - St Louis
5. Edgmer Espinosa - NY Mets

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - CF

Center Field - Range and glove are very important for a CFer, but if they have great offense it can overcome poor defense. Speed and Durability also played a part in the rankings.

1. Enrique Marquez - Cincinnatti
2. Darryl Harris - San Diego
3. Ricardo Cortes - Baltimore
4. Brian Nakano - Tampa Bay
5. Alexi Lorenzo - Milwaukee
6. Naoto Chang - NY Mets
7. Galahad Justice - Detroit
8. Gil Olsen - Toronto
9. Carlos Mendez - Minnesota
10. Buddy Lowery - Arizona

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - SS

3. Trent McMillan - LA Dodgers
4. Tatsua Hayashi - Chicago Cubs
5. Mark Uehara - Arizona

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - 3b

Third Base - Didnt really factor defense into the 3b position, but you at least had to meet the bare minimum requirements. Other than that just went with the better overall player in my opinion.

3. Jose Morales - Atlanta
4. Brian Zheng - Pittsburgh
5. Todd Hentgen - Arizona

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - 2b

Second Base - To rank the second basemen they first had to qualify defensively, which means at least a 72+ glove and 70+ range. Even those are low for a 2b but if they have a big bat they'll make up for the lack of defense. Speed and Contact were also factors.

1. Rafael Alicea - Anaheim
2. Ramiro Ayala - Milwaukee
3. FP Collmenter - Boston
4. Josh Vosberg - Florida
5. Alvin Dunham - Arizona
6. Oswaldo Cairo - Baltimore
7. Alex Uribe - Vancouver
8. Benny Jacquez - Chicago Cubs
9. Mickey Camilli - Oakland
10. Dick Beltre - Atlanta

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - 1b

First Base - In my mind first basemen should be all about the power and batting eye...with some splits mixed in. Defense didnt really matter in my rankings but you at least had to be a 1b, not a DH type. I also factored which side of the plate they hit from into my rankings as I believe Switch hitters and Lefties are more valuable.

1. Jorge Posada - Philadelphia
2. Osvaldo Torres - Atlanta
3. Gary Pritchett - Cincinatti
4. Yusmeiro Henriquez - Detroit
5. Tris Ventrella - Anaheim
6. Guillermo Marichal - Arizona
7. Theodore Fox - Houston
8. Wallace Hammonds - Minnesota
9. Brad Nash - St Louis
10. Vasco Martin - Florida

TOP 10 RIGHT NOW - CATCHERS

In honor of the current MLB Network series I will be doing my own top 10. Ultimately it came down to which players I would want on my team over the other players.

Catchers - My criteria for top catchers were they had to be passable defensively, if they were weak defensively they better have a big bat to make it up. If players were close offensively, the tie breaker was the defense...and their durability as a good hitting catcher that can play almost every day is valuable.

1. Yamid Chantres - Baltimore
2. Carlos Diaz - Arizona
3. Jason Rzepcynski - Chicago White Sox
4. Pedro Soto - Atlanta
5. Esteban Prieto - Oakland
6. Homer Hall - LA Dodgers
7. Matt Owings - San Diego
8. Douglas Moore - Memphis
9. Pablo Guzman - Pittsburgh
10. Junior Alvarado - Vancouver
